Getting to Block Island
Traveling by car
The most convenient ferries to Block Island depart from Point Judith, RI. Your options are either a fast (30 minutes) or traditional (55 minutes) ferry.
Set your GPS to the Point Judith Ferry at 304 Great Island Rd, Narragansett, RI 02882
There is overnight parking available near the ferry terminal for those leaving their cars on the mainland.
We recommend booking ferry tickets in advance and arriving at the ferry terminal 30-45 minutes before departure.
Traveling by plane
If you’re flying in, the most convenient airports are:
T.F. Green International Airport (PVD) – Providence, RI (about 35 minutes from the Point Judith Ferry)
Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) – Boston, MA (about 1.5 hours from the Point Judith Ferry, depending on traffic)
From either airport, you can:
Rent a car and drive to the Point Judith ferry terminal
Take a rideshare or taxi to the ferry (availability varies, so planning ahead is encouraged)
There are also small regional flights directly to Block Island Airport (BID). Check the schedule for options.
We know that staying on the island can be expensive, and we want our local friends to know that a day trip is absolutely doable. You can take a morning ferry over on Saturday, explore the island using our recommendations, join us for the ceremony and reception, and we’ll have cabs arranged to take you to the last ferry at 8:00 pm. *If you need a place to change from beach attire to wedding attire, let us know and we can help!
Day Trip
Many attractions on Block Island are walkable from Old Harbor, where the ferry drops off and where the Block Island Beach House is located.
If you’d like to explore a bit farther, renting a bike is a great way to see the island at your own pace. For longer trips or if walking/biking isn’t your preference, taxis are readily available. We recommend using one of the local drivers below.
Recommended Cab Drivers:
– McAloon’s Taxi | 401-741-1410
– Rondo’s Taxi | (401) 466-5550
We’ll also be arranging transportation to and from the wedding ceremony, reception and Captain Nick’s.
